Let's Keep the Faith in the Events Communication Industry

This unprecedented health crisis will not be the end of our industry. Our industry will not be turned on its head. It will not be radically transformed to complete digitalization any more than e-commerce will ever succeed in totally replacing traditional commerce. If you doubt that for even a few moments, I invite you to reflect upon what happened a few days ago in Wuhan, the Chinese city where this crisis originated. After eleven weeks of total lockdown, Wuhan’s inhabitants were finally allowed to leave their homes and to gradually resume normal life. But more importantly, after only one day of return to normalcy, what happened? What did the people of Wuhan do? They came together, certainly with masks, certainly respecting distances, to attend… an event!

My dear friends, colleagues and partners,

I am taking the liberty of writing to you because I know that all of you, without exception, are suffering professionally and emotionally. On a global scale, our industry – the event communication industry – is probably one of the most impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, this unprecedented health crisis will not be the end of our industry.

They watched, all together, the illumination of the city’s skyscrapers and bridges followed by a giant mapping projection, which captured their imagination and allowed them to dare to dream once again.

This is the power of what our industry can do. We translate dreams into reality. We make people happy. We build platforms to share, to communicate, to exchange, to inspire, to move, to bring everyone together toward a brighter future.

Nothing – no person, no virus – can destroy these dreams and stop us from doing what we do best with passion.

So let's keep faith in our industry, one of the most beautiful professions on this earth. Let's power forward to continue to inspire millions of young people around the world who endeavor to work in this field.

Sooner than we think, we will again find ourselves behind the scenes, working backstage to enrich the lives of our clients and to create magic.

Let's continue to make dreams!

Richard Attias

We hope that our message finds you and your families in good health and spirits.

The global health crisis has temporarily altered the "hands-on" aspect of our day-to-day operations, preventing us from the in-person events that remain our passion. Our worldwide associates however are strongly focused on creating innovative global platforms to promote the exchange of ideas, which is particularly crucial in these difficult times and on developing second semester events.

We want to support and we want to share. For the best of our clients who are our reason for "being." For the best of our vendors who are our partners. For the best of our colleagues who are our family. For the best of our global economy.

Together with all our associates and employees, we have decided to donate the equivalent amount of two months salary for all of us to the World Health Organization and to local foundations in New York, Paris, Dubai, and Riyadh, where our offices are located. Please, if you can, do join RA&A’s Call to Action to support deserving medical initiatives worldwide. Let us all contribute together to eradicate this terrible disease.
